English Translation
My eyes wink not lest he should hide And him as cruel the townsmen chide

I fear his form to hide, nor close my eyes:'Her love estranged is gone!' the village cries
Explanation
I will not wink, knowing that if I did, my lover would hide himself; and for this reason, this town says, he is unloving

கண் இமைத்தால் காதலர் மறைந்து போதலை அறிகின்றேன், அவ்வளவிற்கே இந்த ஊரார் அவரை அன்பில்லாதவர் என்று சொல்லுவர்.
